Warder Arrested Over Rape Website
A former prison warder with 29 years experience, Chief Inspector Vincent Hotor, 55, has been arrested by the Madina Divisional Police Command branch of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DVVSU) for his offensive conduct against two pupils of a private school in Madina, a suburb of Accra.Hotor is said to have sexually abused the two girls by inserting his fingers into their private parts. The two girls (names withheld), who had been subjected to long ‘sessions’ of ‘fingering’ and penis ‘brushing’ in their vagina, finally exposed the activities of their tormentor to their parents. Speaking to Daily Guide at the Madina Police Station, Chief Superintendent Beatrice Amoako, Crime Officer in-charge of the Madina DVVSU said Mr. Hotor was a class two teacher with the Madina-based preparatory school which the victims attend. She said anytime the teacher gave an assignment on the blackboard, he would move to the back of the class and invite the two girls, one after the other, to ‘see’ him. C/Supt. Amoako noted that Mr. Hotor would then sit the victims down and insert his fingers into their vagina. As if that was not enough, Mr. Hotor, who was also said to be the private teacher for both victims, had been using his penis to ‘brush’ the victims’ vagina until he discharged. The children narrated to the police that on their way home after school for their extra lessons at home, Mr. Hotor would take a detour into a nearby bush where he would spread some leaves on the ground and allegedly ‘brush’ his penis against their vagina. Luck however ran out on Mr. Hotor as on one of his ‘escapades’ with the children, he was spotted by one of the pupils of the school who alerted another teacher before the matter got to the parents. Amoako mentioned that because Mr. Hotor had warned the children not to disclose their ordeal to any human being including their parents, the children were reluctant to talk when they were found out, but after series of threats they confessed.They described both the classroom and bush ‘scenes’ to their parents who lodged complaints with the Madina Police DVVSU and the suspect was apprehended. In his cautioned statement, Mr. Hotor denied indecently assaulting the children, saying he was innocent. When Chief Inspector Edward Dzokoto and Sergeant Emmanuel Yevu, both of Madina DVVSU, were dispatched to the crime scene, the children demonstrated how Mr. Hotor molested them sexually. The children alleged that Mr. Hotor had a sharp knife that he used to cut the branches of trees which he spread on the ground, adding that he then asked them in turns to remove their panties and lie on the ground.They told the police that after Mr. Hotor had brushed their vagina for sometime, something like the ‘white cocoa butter’ cream they use at home came out of his penis, apparently referring to his spermatozoa (sperms). Speaking to Daily Guide, Mr. Hotor initially denied vehemently ever indulging in any inappropriate behaviour against the children, but later softened up and appealed for clemency. He disclosed that he retired from the Prison Service last year after 29 years service and that as a trained teacher, he took a teaching appointment in the school to supplement his meager pension. He mentioned that he was married with children and that his wife had just given birth three weeks ago. Mr. Hotor had since been dismissed by the school authorities, and he is being held to assist the police in their investigations. C/Supt. Amoako appealed to parents to ensure that their children, especially the females, were in good hands. She also advised schools to investigate the backgrounds of teachers and other staff members thoroughly before employing them.
