A Computer Engineering lecturer at the University of Ghana, (UG) Dr Jacob Adople has sued the institution for wrongfully terminating his appointment as a lecturer.
According to his lawyers the university authorities assured their clients that he will be re-appointed as a permanent staff later this year only to be asked to vacate his post. The University authorities instead appointed a new person to teach the subject.
Dr Adople’s lawyers have filed a motion in court seeking the court to restrain the University from appointing a new person to teach the computer engineering science subject in the University.
A member of Dr Adople’s legal team, David Ametefe told Citi News the University of Ghana authorities have been served with a writ.
“We have filed for an order for interlocutory injunction and in this injunction we are seeking various process directed at the university to restrain the university authorities from going ahead to confirm or appoint any permanent staff for the same causes for which he was appointed and to restrain them from for either frustrating him or interfering in his work until the final determination of the matter”.
“On the writ itself we are seeking several declarations including a declaration that that action taken by the University amounts to unfair termination”.
