Two policemen from Brong Ahafo Regional Police Headquarters and a taxi driver received injuries in an accident that involved the taxi and a KIA Truck at Penkwasi a suburb of Sunyani.
All the three, Prince Opoku and George Amankwaa Police Constables and Kwaku Agyemang, taxi driver are in critical conditions at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ansu Frimpong, in-charge of Brong Ahafo Regional MTTU told Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that at dawn on Friday, November 2, Mohammed Abdulai, a resident of Dagombaline in Techiman was driving the KIA truck loaded with sawn timber from Kenyasi towards Techiman.
He said on reaching a spot near the block factory at Penkwasi in Sunyani, the taxi went into the lane of the truck and it crashed into the taxi.
ASP Frimpong said Abdulai has been arrested for investigations.
However, an eyewitness account said the policemen were chasing the truck for allegedly conveying unauthorised lumber and in an attempt to stop it the taxi crossed its lane and the accident occurred.
