Twelve South African Soldiers Injured In Burundi Accident Website
Twelve South African soldiers were injured in Burundi when their military vehicle overturned, the South African National Defense Force said. Brigadier General Kwena Mangope said in a statement that three who were seriously injured were scheduled to be evacuated to South Africa later in the day. The remaining soldiers were treated for minor injuries in Bujumbura, Burundi's capital, where the accident happened on Wednesday. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, and Mangope said a Board of Enquiry would be convened to investigate the incident. South African soldiers are deployed in Burundi under an African Union to assist with the peace process in that country.
