The head of Post Market Surveillance of the Foods and Drugs Board, (FDB) Amedzro Thomas, has told Citi News that the Presidents of Tianshi, the Chinese company responsible for importing the devices allegedly used to elongate and enlarge the male sexual organ have been arrested for possible prosecution.
Mr Amedzro Thomas revealed that the Chinese Company, Tianshi had only registered with Foods and Drugs Board as a company to import Chinese medical drugs.
FDB on Tuesday, January 11, warned the general public against the use of the devices which can allegedly enlarge and elongate the male sexual organ and the breast.
Mr Amedzro told Citi News that the machines have not been tested and approved by the FDB and hence their safety cannot be guaranteed.
The devices he explained have cups of various sizes connected to a suction pump. The cups are fitted to the male organ or the breast and the pump activated to elongate the organ.
Mr Thomas explained to Citi News that the Penis Elongation device may be able to cause enlargement and elongation of the penis and short term sexual joy but however added that in the long term, the penis will become very weak like mushroom and non-functional.
The breast, also if pumped with the breast enlargement device will result in the lactiferous duct becoming too long and this can lead to kinking of the duct as a result, milk produced in the breast will accumulate and lead to breast engorgement and eventual breast infection.
“With the manner of the operation or use of the device, you fix the cup onto the male organ and manually, you pull the male organ. The male organ is an elastic tissue so when you pull it persistently it will elongate. You will seem to have achieved the purpose for which you bought the device. But the male erection upon sexual arousal comes through a blood fluid into the organ and when you manually elongate the penis, you are going to over extend the tissue beyond the elastic limit and it would become permanent. So you would experience an elongation apparently in the short term but the penis would become non functional which can only be used for urination but for sexual functions you will be out”. Mr Thomas explained.
The Food and Drugs Board in a statement released earlier on directed Tianshi to halt the importation, distribution, supply, sale and usage of such devices and therefore advised anyone who has purchased such a device from Tianshi or any other distributor or importer to return it since the FDB will not deal kindly with anyone found using such unregistered medical devices.
Mr Thomas admonished the general public to cooperate with the Food and Drugs Board by desisting from being subjected to any procedures and risks associated with the use of these devices and or purchasing any of these devices.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Medical Association has expressed its worrying concern about the devices on the market.
Speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, the General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, Dr Sodzi Sodzi Tetttey warned that people should stay away from drugs and devices that will seem to enhance their sexual performance since it had an adverse effect.
According to Dr Tetteh using all forms of ways to increase one’s size would affect one’s sexual performance in the long term adding that skill should be preferable to size.
