Patricia Arthur, 26, has been detained for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband, Corporal John Kwabena Appiah, a driver of the Ghana Police Service at Old Ningo in the Dangme West District.
An enraged Arthur poured the hot water on her husband at about 17:48 hours on Friday, January 21 in their residence when he rebuked her for answering his phone call. The couple have two children.
Police Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that Cpl Appiah's mobile phone rang while he was outside the room, and his wife answered and insulted the caller.
Chief Inspector Turkson said when Cpl Appiah returned to the room, Arthur informed his husband about the call and her reaction, after which she accused him of infidelity.
The PRO said Cpl Appiah who was not happy with his wife's behaviour, rebuked her and this resulted in a misunderstanding. This provoked Arthur to boil water and poured it on her husband.
Chief Inspector Turkson said Cpl Appiah who received serious burns from the back of his head and waist, was rushed to hospital, while Arthur was detained in a Police Cells pending prosecution.
Chief Inspector Turkson again said, prior to the incident, Arthur had hit her husband's head with a stick resulting in the separation of the marriage until December last year.
