Mr Debrah Amanor, chief farmer for Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District has said that, the mass cocoa spraying exercise introduced some years back by the government, could help increase cocoa production if farmers embrace it.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after meeting other chief farmers at Akim Oda, Mr Debrah, said the exercise was part of a hi-tech cocoa production method.
The chief farmer expressed concern about some cocoa farmers who refuse to allow their farms to be sprayed, even though their farms were infested with the capsid disease, which destroys the cocoa beans.
Mr Debrah said the introduction of the hi-tech programme was a testimony of the government’s determination to help improve the cocoa industry and to improve the living standards of the farmers.
