Chelsea manager Avram Grant believes his side deserved the draw after a scrappy affair at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool...
Neither side took control of the game, in fact Chelsea looked stronger when Dirk Kuyt overpowered Claude Makelele to stab home the opener just before half time, after a mistake by the returning Frank Lampard.
In the second period, with an air of desperation in Chelsea's attacks, Liverpool were able to play with a bit more composure and they looked like seeing the game out and being deserved winners.
However, there was one final twist yet, as substitute Salomon Kalou was by the left-hand side corner flag and whipped in a cross that Liverpool substitute John Arne Riise made a complete mess of, heading into his own net.
The equaliser gives Chelsea advantage going into the second leg. After the game, the Israeli joked that he was happy to be the one scoring a goal in the last minute instead of conceding, and praised the team's work rate.
"I think we deserved it," he told Sky Sports News. "It was a game without many chances. In the first half, we had a chance with Drogba maybe having a penalty. Second half was the same, we had a chance for Malouda.
