THE time has come once again for Ghanaians to laugh hard and long to relieve the stress of life and stock up on some good old African humour.
The 1006 Laughs adverts are currently running in the media and if what one sees in these adverts are anything to go by, then one can be sure of some real entertainment come August 2.
The Laugh series, which is scheduled to come off at the National Theatre, presents a prime avenue for cross-cultural entertainment from some top comedians from Ghana and Nigeria.
The pungent comedy brew, which is a result of this collaboration, is dished out with aplomb to the delight of those who have kept dates with the programme over the last years. The Night of Laughs and Music has also become the platform where both amateur and professional comedians from all over Africa flex their 'humour muscles'.
Ghanaian comedians like Abeiku Santana have all found in the Laugh series a starting point.
Twice in a year, since 2004, the Night of Laughs and Music has come to be recognized on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar as a date that cannot be missed. The events have all recorded one thing in common - laughter that reverberates throughout the auditorium as thousands of hard working Ghanaian professionals let their hairs down, sit back and allow themselves to be entertained beyond imagination.
The musical segment is another aspect of this night that many look forward to as the musicians invited to perform give of their very best as though in competition with the comedians. Some like A-Plus go the extra mile to exhibit their funny sides also by telling a few jokes to an ecstatic audience. Previous events have as well witnessed spectacular performances from Rex Omar, Batman, the Ramblers Band, Kwabena Kwabena and Idris.
This year, patrons can look forward to even more entertainment than before, as Wanlov the Kobolor unleashes some of his good Ghanaian humour on the audience through music.
The Laugh and Music series is a Charterhouse production which is sponsored by MTN and Stone Chairman beer from ABL.
