20 year old Yvette Nsiah has been selected to represent Ghana at Miss Universe 2008 pageant.
The refined and elegant 5′ 7″ beauty is a third year Africana Studies undergrad at the University of Albany, New York. Yvette was crowned Miss Universe Ghana after a rigorous selection process at the La Palm Hotel in Accra. The delegates were judged on their communication skills, intelligence, beauty, elegance and poise in three keenly contested rounds.
Yvette topped the lot after the scores from the judged were collated. Daisy Asare Akoto emerged as the 1st Runner-up while Joyce Akagbo was the 2nd Runner-up spot. The competition was judged by Emma Moisan, Dennis Nii Dodoo Smith, Gerad Boakye, Pearl Amoah (Miss Universe Ghana 1996 & Fashion Designer), and Ronke Nedd. All delegates were dressed in clothing by the Royal Dennis, and styled by Sleek Cosmetics.
Yvette will represent Ghana at the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant slated for Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14. She will compete with other remarkable young women around the globe, a challenge Yvette hopes to make the most of. The producers of Miss Universe Ghana expressed satisfaction with their selection. “After weeks of scouting, we are excited to present a remarkable Ghanaian woman, who we are confident, will make a poignant statement for Ghana at the international event. We are looking forward to a strong presence at the Miss Universe Pageant. We also commend the judges for selecting a young woman who is indeed the quintessence of Ghanaian femininity”.
The Miss Universe Ghana titleholders include some of Ghana’s finest who make quite an impression at the annual international gala event. The most recent being Angela Asare, 2006 Miss Universe Congeniality Award winner, who follows in the footsteps of Menaye Donkor (2004); Stephanie Walkins-Fia with a top 12 placement in 2002; Precious Agyare (2001); Esi Acquah (2000); Akuba Cudjoe with a top 10 placement in 1999, Francisca Awuah (1998) and Pearl Amoah (1996).
