DEFENDING LEAGUE Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak have denied making attempts to sign on their former striker Louis Agyeman.
Agyeman was an integral member of the Phobian team that inflicted a pain defeat on Kotoko to win the maiden Africa Confederations Cup in 2004.
He left the shores of the country to South Africa for greener pastures after hugely impressing as a Phobian.
News making the rounds of late indicates that the prolific striker was in talks with Hearts’ management for a possible return.
But Harry Zakkour, Chairman of Hearts’ Interim Management Committee (IMC) in a chat, said Louis Agyeman was not on the team’s radar. “He is not among the players we are targeting to beef up the team when the transfer window gets opened”.
Zakkour, affectionately called ‘Champion Chairman’ however hinted that Hearts would recruit five quality players from the premiership to augment their existing team before the second round gets underway.
He refused to mention the names of the said players, insisting if they put the names of these players into the public domain their arch rivals Asante Kotoko would also go in for them.
Zakkour who expressed delight about the performance of the team in the latter stages of the first round, cited lack of bite upfront as the major bane of Hearts and promised to tackle the problem in the second round.
“We will recruit quality strikers to help rejuvenate the team in the second round. We are doing well of late but the strikers are unable to find the back of the net and we will surely correct it before the second round resumes”.nm
