Ghana's representatives in this year's MTN Caf Champions league; Accra Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold Sporting Club, began their campaign on dreadful notes after losing to their respective opponents.
Hearts lost 3-0 away to FC 105 Libreville of Gabon. The Phobians conceded the first goal on the stroke of half and allowed in two more in the second-half.
The result mean the 2000 winners will have to win by 4 unanswered goals in the second leg tie at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in a fortnight's time.
Although Hearts of Oak fielded an inexperienced side, they were better in terms of territorial dominance but lacked the cutting edge to turn their possession into penetration.
Two seasons ago,Hearts lost 4-0 to St.George of Ethiopia in the first leg but manage to score two goals in 15 minutes at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The Ethiopians abandoned the match and Hearts were declared winners by Caf.
''We played well but couldn't convert our chances.I can compare this game to the Ghana-Cameroon semi-final match at the just ended Nations Cup.I think we have to conjure a miracle we want to remain in the competition,'' Alhaji Hearts said in a post-match interview.

Collins Addo-Kwabena Boafo,Thomas Mensah,Ebenezer Tetteh,Hassan Mohammmed-Samuel Affum,Francis Bossman,Micheal Asante/Joseph Techie-Mensah,Kofi Abanga- Rueben Senyo/Ernest Okyere,Eric Gawu
In Niger,AshantiGold SC could not bounce-back from a first half goal down against Sahel Sporting Club.
