Students of Osei Tutu Boys College (SHS) in the Ashanti Region were on Friday February 11, asked to go home after rioting on Tuesday February 8.
Citi News’ Correspondent with partner station K-FM in Kumasi, Betty Ohemaa-Agyemang, reported that property worth hundreds of Cedis were destroyed including the headmaster’s vehicle.
According to her, the students demonstrated against the Headmaster for what they claim was his neglect of sporting activities in the school which caused their abysmal performance in an Inter-schools sports event of thirty-five schools, in which they placed 9th.
The School authorities did not comment on the extent of damage except to stay the incident has cost them a lot.
All students have been asked to go home until further notice with the exception of final year students, who are to return on Tuesday February 15, for a Mock Examinations.
