A 10-year old primary four pupil of the Martyrs of Uganda Jubilee School in Kumasi, has cut a slice of history for himself, obtaining Credit in the 2010 November West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) core Mathematics.
Master Christian Adarkwah Yiadom had “C6” in the subject, the only paper he registered. His examination centre was at Santasi and his index number was 1058509074.Mr Francis Adarkwah-Yiadom, the father, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he registered his boy for the core Mathematics just to help demystify the subject - dreaded by many a student.
He said he had no shred of doubt from the performance of the child in Mathematics that he was capable of making it and “he has proved me right.” Mr Adarkwah-Yiadom, a former Environmental Officer of the defunct Bonte Gold Mine, said he took barely three months to prepare his son for the examination.
He said he was hopeful that little Adarkwah Yiadom’s achievement would inspire and help students, especially in Senior High Schools to shake off whatever fear they have for that Mathematics.
