Operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have returned to normal, as announced by the airport's CEO on Tuesday, following a recent unprecedented storm in the UAE. The storm caused significant disruptions at one of the world's busiest airports for international flights.
DXB has resumed its regular flight schedule, with approximately 1,400 flight movements per day. The CEO noted that the airport's infrastructure, including roads in and around the facility, is fully operational again, with no water accumulation.
Last Tuesday's rainfall, the highest in the UAE's modern history, led to flight diversions, delays, and cancellations at DXB, affecting thousands of travelers. The CEO highlighted the significant efforts required to restore operations, acknowledging the collaboration with airline partners and government agencies.
Despite initial challenges, including road closures around DXB and DWC, efforts were made to ensure the welfare of guests, including the delivery of over 75,000 food packs across both airports. The CEO emphasized ongoing efforts to address remaining challenges, such as processing the backlog of baggage.
Travelers were advised to arrive at the terminal three hours before their flight departure time to avoid congestion.
