A new train that was supposed to carry passengers on the Tema-Mpakadan Railway line had an accident. The front part of the train, where the driver sits, got damaged.

The train hit a parked vehicle on the tracks near Kpong in the Eastern Region. This happened around 12:10 p.m. yesterday while a team was testing the new train.

The Ministry of Railways Development, along with other railway organizations and the company that made the train, issued a statement about the accident. They said the vehicle on the tracks was empty, and it wasn't supposed to be there.

Luckily, nobody on the train or nearby got hurt. But the front part of the train got slightly damaged.

The police are looking into what happened. The train has been taken to a workshop to be checked and fixed.

The Ministry of Railways and its partners want to make sure trains run safely. They will keep people updated about what they find out. They also remind everyone to be careful around railway tracks.

Background: One of the two new trains arrived in Tema last month. It was brought in pieces and then put together by engineers. The test was to make sure the train was ready to carry passengers on the track in June. The railway connects seven stations.

The government bought two trains for $4.2 million to use on this railway line.
