Three men were remanded in prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly possessing five parcels and 173 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. Karim Issif, 47, farmer, Peter Kwabena Louis, 64, pensioner and Rufai Ahmed, 25, mechanic, pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Wednesday October 24. Prosecuting, superintendent Cyril Ackom, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that last Wednesday, the officer in charge of the Cape Coast narcotic drugs unit had a tip-off that Issif had taken delivery of some drugs in his house. He said the officer and his men went to the house of Issif where they met him, Louis and Ahmed wrapping some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Superintendent Ackom said a search was conducted in the room and two polythene bags, which contained, five parcels, 173 wrappers, a quantity of dried leaves mixed with corn cobs, a pair of scissors and pieces of paper were found. He said when they were interrogated Issif claimed ownership of the items.
