Students Clash With Police At GIMPA Website
There is tension and chaos at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) as students and police clash. The clash followed disagreements over parking places for students with cars. Some of the enraged students who spoke to Joy News accused the Rector of the institute, Dr. Stephen Adei of ordering their manhandling by the police. “Prof. Adei was directing cars to a muddy place following the rains but some of the students tried to explain to him that the place was not good to park their cars”, one student told Joy News. He claimed one female student is currently in the grips of the Legon Police. According to another student one policeman used the button of his rifle to hit the lady following the orders of Dr. Adei. She claimed the lady was ruffled by the police. Joy News reports indicate that efforts to get Dr. Adei to hear his side of the story failed. The Public Relations Officer of GIMPA however said an official statement will be issued on the matter. Meanwhile police are currently patrolling the GIMPA campus to prevent any further violence.
