Authorities of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi says the strike action embarked upon by junior nurses has not in anyway, affected the operations of the hospital.
Mr Kwame Frimpong, Public Relations Officer of the hospital, told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Tuesday that normal activities are going on at the health facility in-spite of the strike.
The junior nurses at the hospital have since Monday October 4, withdrawn their services in protest of the delay in the payment of their salaries.
According to the nurses, they have not been paid since they were appointed between February and March 2009.
They warned that, they are not going to work until they receive their salary arrears.
However, Mr Frimpong stated that management has re-aligned the duties of the old nurses, while those on leave have been recalled to ensure normal delivery of service to patients.
He said management has met with the leadership of the junior nurses and expressed the hope that amicable solution would be found to end the impasse.
