We know you are all gathered here because the President has not kept faith with you, and would want to demonstrate and air your displeasure and disappointment through this peaceful and incident-free mass protest.
The Mills led government has remained very insensitive to the plights and predicaments of the suffering masses, especially after imposing usually unbearable hardship on them as a result of the recent fuel price increase and the introduction of killer taxes.
This is a government that promised to deliver heaven on earth to the good people of Ghana while in opposition, but now in government the consensus among the people is that it is rather delivering hell. The President is now running away from the details and commitments of his party’s manifesto which Ghanaians have now labelled as the “Ma Trickie Wo Manifesto."
One of the key things AFAG and its allies deem very worrying is that, instead of confessing that they have failed the good people of Ghana and asking for help to salvage the economy, they keep on compounding the problems and hardship by resorting to infantile palliatives and blame games. President Mills should note that if he is a professional in the blame game, he would always be an amateur when competing for success.
Ladies and gentlemen, President Mills’ antics and deceits are over, for we will continue exposing his government until he keeps faith with the suffering masses.
We will not stop protesting until President Mills becomes sensitive to the plight of the Traders, Trotro and Taxi drivers, Spare Parts Dealers, Ordinary Ghanaians, Trades Union Congress (TUC), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) etc.
We will not stop protesting until taxes and fuel prices are reduced to meet the plights of Ghanaians in our towns and villages.
We will not stop protesting until President Mills recognizes the orientation and concerns of the masses through this AHOKYERE DEMONSTRATION.
Ladies and gentlemen gathered here, it is about time politicians became responsible and honoured their manifesto pledges. We cannot remain gullible forever. The only hypothesis in the NDC manifesto was the attainment of political power. Some Ghanaians voted for the Mills- Mahama administration because they been had promised a Better Ghana.
The sad faces of the police here go further to attest to the fact that they are also suffering in respective of the noise about their Single Spine Salary Structure.
We pledge to act as the vocal extension of the suffering masses in this country.
