Four Taliban insurgents were killed and another sustained injuries as a mine planted by them exploded pre-maturely in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province Thursday, police said. "It was early morning today. When five Taliban were busy in planting a mine to target security forces, suddenly it blasted killing four on the spot and injuring other," provincial police chief Mohammed Hussain Andiwal told Xinhua. The incident occurred in Marja district, he added. Taliban have not made any comment so far. Conflicts and Taliban-related insurgency had left more than 6, 000 people dead in 2007, while observers predict more suicide attacks and roadside bombings in 2008 in the post-Taliban Afghanistan.
