Owusu-Agyei Defines His Re-election Bid Website
The Minister for Public Sector Reform and MP for Effutu, Mr Samuel Kofi Owusu-Agyei, has told critics his desire to contest the Effutu parliamentary seat for the second time was borne out of good intentions. Addressing Effutu constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a meeting at Winneba at the weekend, Mr Owusu-Agyei said he had lots of excellent ideas and initiatives, which should be harnessed for the benefit of people, hence his desire to contest the seat again come December. He advised all key players of the party in the constituency to remain united and focused in order to attract both floating qualified voters and non NPP members into the fold of the party, reminding them that politics had to do with numbers when it comes to elections. Mr Owusu-Agyei charged all the party’s followers, especially the leaders, to learn to accommodate opposing views within and outside. He said even though he had done his best to bring some meaningful development projects to the constituency, he was still fighting to bring more of such projects. Mr Owusu-Agyei assured both NPP followers and people from the other side of the political divide of his determination to ensure that additional development projects, which the government had planned for Winneba were implemented, adding that “nothing will detract me from pursuing such useful ventures for my constituents”. Mr Kofi Taylor, Chairman of the Effutu Constituency branch of the NPP, assured the Minister of the willingness of the executives and members to co-operate with the government in its efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of people. He urged members to tolerate divergent views from followers of other political groups to foster good relationship among members of the various political parties in the area.
