Nana Araba Apt launches New Book Website
A book entitled, "Learning how to play to win," authored by Nana Araba Apt has been launched to examine the fundamental issues about "why is Ghana poor." The book provides the author's view on what impact 50 years of independence has on Ghana. The main thrust of the book's discussion is attitudes and behaviours and how individuals affect society's contribution to poverty and thus lack of progress. Ms Carol Asamoah, Acting Registrar and Director of Admissions at Ashesi University said Nana Araba Apt believed that the "dependence (condition) in which we find ourselves as a nation is brought forth by us and particularly so because we lack leaders who are committed to national autonomy and real independence." Ms Asamoah said funds generated from the sale of the books would go to a foundation Nana Apt helped formed and called, "A college for Ama," which helps street children and provides education for girls in the rural areas and the Danny White Leukaemia Foundation. The book was launched by Mr. Patrick Awauh, President of Ashesi University. Nana Apt is Dean of Academic Affairs at Ashesi University in Accra.
