The Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Mr Larry Bimi is dead at age 66 after a short illness.
The unfortunate incident happened on Friday while on admission at the Cardio centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Mr. Bimi will be buried Saturday afternoon in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Larry Bimi has been the chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education for more than 10 years.
A lawyer by profession he has recently been in the news after the Association of Magistrates and Judges filed a complaint against him and three other lawyers for making comments about judicial corruption and alleging that corruption was a problem in the judiciary at a recent NCCE forum.
Throughout his career at the NCCE, he campaigned tirelessly for increased knowledge about the constitution and has been an advocate for civic education for Ghanaians.
