Hundreds of job seekers on Monday stormed the Volta Regional Police Training School to seek enlistment into the Ghana Police Service.
The large numbers included people who had been short listed and those who did not apply but came around with their academic documents hoping to be enlisted.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Peter Alex Wiredu, the outgoing Director-General of Human Resources of the Police Service who addressed the people, assured them that the enlistment exercise would be done on merit. "Only people with the correct requirements will be considered", he said.
Dr Wiredu said after the body selection and documentation, there would be written entry examination, medical examination and a nominal vetting to ensure that good calibre of people were recruited into the Service.
Deputy Commissioner of Police David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, the Volta Regional Police Commander, urged the applicants to comport themselves for the region to record a peaceful and successful recruitment exercise.
