Mr. Kenneth Dzirasah, a former first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has been appointed as Chairman of the Ghana Refugee Board.
Mr. Dzirasah, a legal practitioner and a former Member of Parliament for North Tongu, was sworn into office by the out-going Minister for the Interior, Mr. Martin. A.B.K. Amidu, at a ceremony in Accra today.
This was in a statement, signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ministry, Mr.Kudjo O. Dabri and copied to the Information services Department (ISD) .
The Interior Minister administered the Official Oath, the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Secrecy to the new Chairman.
Mr. Martin Amidu congratulated Mr. Kenneth Dzirasah on his new appointment and enjoined him to bring his rich experiences gained in public service to bear in repositioning the Ghana Refugee Board to deliver effectively on its mandate.
Accepting his new responsibilities, Mr. Dzirasah thanked H.E. Professor John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana, for his appointment and assured the Minister of the Interior of his commitment to work in concert with all stakeholders to transform the Ghana Refugee Board to surmount any challenges confronting the Board.
Also sworn into office at the same ceremony as Secretary to the Auctioneers' Registration Board was Mr. Reuben Edmund Nii Korley Okine, an Assistant Director at the Ministry of the Interior.
In attendance at the swearing-in ceremony were the out-going Deputy Minister of the Interior, Dr. Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Alhaji Salifu Osman, Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior and Mr. Kofi Porturphy, the National Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), who was until today, the Acting Chairman of the Refugee Board.
