Former CEO of the Bui Power Authority, Mr Fred Oware has dismissed assertions by the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia that the previous government failed (1) in the implementation of the Bui Hydro Project and (2) in the funding of the Bui City Development Project (BCDP,) and describes as irresponsible the statement that no documentation on the project nor even Board Minutes were left for the current Board and Management to continue with the BCD concept.
According to him, such irresponsible statement can only come from someone who does not read materials sent to him or who is being plain mischievous, adding that it is obvious Mr. Asiedu Nketiah is only interested in admiring the billboards.
In a statement issued today, Mr. Fred Oware, who is also the 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP, said prior to leaving office at the end of May 2009, he made seven sets of copies of all documents pertaining to (1) the Bui Hydro-Project and (2) Bui City & Irrigation Project.
He therefore describes as interesting, recent developments and public utterances by some leading NDC figures on the issue and cynically added that since the NDC has shown matchless aptitude to go a borrowing, they should not hesitate to do what they are good at.
“Finally, I find it interesting that the Bui City Project is stopped due to lack of funds from the Kufuor administration. If the project is considered to be good then they should continue and fix it. The Mills administration has shown the unparalleled capacity to borrow, so if the project good, then they should borrow and fix it.
