A 29-year-old driver, who siphoned 25 gallons of diesel from a bulldozer, has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Kwabena Aboagye pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.
Police Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that the complainant is the Foreman of BonFirm Company Limited, a construction company in Kumasi.
On Wednesday, February 9, Solomon Asare, one of the company’s drivers, reported for work on Wednesday in the morning and detected that a padlock fixed on the bulldozer had been broken and some diesel in the bulldozer siphoned.
He accordingly brought this to the attention of the complainant.
There were traces of the diesel on the ground and they therefore decided to follow, which led them to a nearby house where they saw the accused with 25 gallons all filled with the stolen oil.
Aboagye confessed to the crime and was arrested.
