Cop Dismissed For Embezzling Police Church Funds Website
The Police Administration on Friday announced the dismissal of Inspector James Amuzu for embezzlement at the Cape Coast Police Church. A statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Cephas Arthur for the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service said the dismissal of Inspector Amuzu was done in accordance with the rules and regulations of the service. The statement said the Police Administration ordered a service enquiry into the conduct of the Inspector following charges of embezzlement of 2.095 old Ghana cedis (209.5 GH cedis) belonging to the Police Church. He said although getting to the end of the enquiry he refunded the amount he embezzled, the Police Administration viewed his conduct as unprofessional and criminal. The statement said the Central Disciplinary Board of the Police Service approved the recommendations of the adjudicating officer, which subsequently led to his dismissal from the Service on February 20, 2008 in addition to his prosecution in court. The Police Administration said the dismissal of Inspector Amuzu had no political undertone as was being speculated by some media houses. It said until the embezzlement charge was preferred against him by the Central Regional Police Command, he had no problem with the Police Administration.
