Cameroon Seek Divine Intervention Website
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon yesterday sought divine intervention at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tamale to enable them win their match against Tunisia to progress to the next stage of the 26th Africa Cup of Nations. Led by their Sports Minister, Augustin Edzoa, the Indomitable Lions thanked God for seeing them through the group stages of the ongoing tournament and called on Him to grant them victory in the rest of the games. Presiding over the mass, a visiting Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Srakus called on Christians to be mindful of the things they admired and be content with what they had in order not to be led astray. “The admiration and acquisition of some of these worldly desires”, he noted, “were not from God and anyone who gets them is never happy.” According to him, the Prophet Zephaniah stated that happiness was not achieved through worldly materials. He said many at times Christians misconstrued a happy living to mean living in big houses, driving in luxurious cars and having plenty money without trying to find out where and how these items were acquired by their owners. “Some of them are outwardly happy and inwardly sadder than anyone else. “The desperation in enriching oneself therefore leads to many devilish acts punishable by God.”The presence of the Cameroonian national team and some of their officials at the church spiced up the celebrations as their band played amusing songs to entertain the congregation. Even after mass, the congregation was still treated to melodious music of the visitors who kept praising the lord with their brass band.An amazing crowd gathered round them to catch a glimpse of the musicians producing the melodious music. Though the mass was specially requested for the Indomitable Lions, none of the players came for the church service. Cameroon, who placed second to Egypt in group C on Monday, would be playing the quarter finals with Angola, leaders of group D at the Tamale Sports Stadium today.
