A group of angry youth from Kponyokope in the Akatsi District last Thursday, vandalized the house of Dominic Kwame Agbozo a farmer, at Tsitornu, for allegedly killing Francis Kale Cattle Drover 16 for stealing some fowls.
Mr Agbozo's family has since left Tsitornu to seek refuge in another village as the incident has led to mounting anxiety in surrounding communities.
Items destroyed included household chattels, several tins of akpeteshie, the local gin and two drums of fermented palm wine to be used for distillation.
Mr Isaac Addo, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Akatsi Police Station, told GNA that a member of Agbozo's family whose name was withheld was injured.
Mr Addo said the youth from Kponyokope came under the cover of darkness with cutlasses and knives to attack Agbozo's family in retaliation for allegedly killing Kale.
He said no arrest had been made but the police were investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, Agbozo, who reported himself to the Akatsi Police after allegedly killing Kale has appeared before an Akatsi Magistrate's Court on a provisional charge of murder.
His plea was not taken and remanded in police custody to re-appear on February 19.
The prosecution told the court that on the night of February 5, this year, Agbozo was woken up by noises from fowls in a coop on his compound.
It said Agbozo woke up, picked his gun and hid near a tree stump from where he saw Kale putting some of his fowls into a receptacle and shot him dead.
