The Volta Caucus in Parliament on Wednesday condemned what it described as the "Rambo style" arrest of Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a businessman and his subsequent detention over the stipulated 48-hour period.
In a statement signed by Captain George Nfojoh (retired), Chairman of the Volta Caucus Committee and Mr Edem Asimah, Secretary, the group said, "Mr Woyome, like any other Ghanaian is entitled to his human dignity under the law."
"The Caucus reiterates that it is not against the investigation of Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome by the Police or any other constitutional or Statutory body because like any ordinary citizen of the land he is subject to the laws of Ghana."
The statement said, however that in doing so his human dignity should be protected as stipulated under Article 15 of the 1992 Constitution.
"The Volta Caucus would like to put on record the fact that Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome is a member of the Board of the Expanded Volta Regional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress.
It said in the mean time, the Caucus appeals to the rank and file of the Party to remain calm pending the outcome of his application.
