The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman East, Mr George Kuntu Blankson, has declared his intention to seek re-election to Parliament, for the third time, in 2012 general elections.
Mr Kuntu Blankson, who is the Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament,
contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2004 and 2008 and won to represent Mfantseman East Constituency in Parliament. The MP declared his intention at the inauguration of a three-unit Junior High School block at Ekumfi Akwakrom near Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality.
The block was funded at GH¢36,800 by the Ghana Education Trust Fund. Mr Kuntu Blankson said he had initiated a number of projects for his
constituents, which enjoins him to go back to Parliament in 2013 to ensure that the projects materialize He appealed to his constituents to rally behind the government because they would not be disappointed.
The MP appealed to parents to ensure that their children make very good use of the project by enrolling them to be trained in school. He expressed concern about the attitude of some parents who encourage
their children to abandon classes to go and do menial jobs at the Mankessim market, cautioning that, "these minor jobs at the market would not be able to reduce your poverty but giving good education to your children can solve
it".
Mr Kuntu Blankson advised the pupils to set standards for themselves and strive to achieve them.Nana Akwah IX, chief of the town, appealed to the government to provide the town with potable water and toilet facilities.
