Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, on Saturday won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate primary for the constituency.
He polled 235 votes against Mrs Jane Edina Nyame-Philips, who had 128 votes.
Speaking after the election conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Darko-Mensah thanked delegates for re-electing him to contest the Parliamentary seat for the NPP in Takoradi to continue his good works.
Mr Darko-Mensah urged members of the party to bury their differences and support the NPP to regain power.
He said he was convinced that the NPP was the only credible party to lead the country to development.
Meanwhile, in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Constituency primary, Mr Joseph Cudjoe was elected unopposed by acclamation despite an injunction placed on the election by a Takoradi Circuit Court.
The election was not supervised by the EC.
