DESPITE LOSING 0-2 to Ghana, Togo are hoping to advance at the expense of the Black Stars when the two West African neighbours clash again in a fortnight in the second leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
James Olembe, a dependable defender of the Hawks insists his side would turn the scales.
“We were unlucky on the day. Also the referee and his assistants did not help us, resulting in our defeat in the first leg.
“I bet you after playing against the Ghanaians I am optimistic that Togo has the pedigree and the ability to inflict a painful defeat to the Black Stars in the second leg and qualify to the next stage”.
In a radio interview, Olembe who denied being a Ghanaian disclosed, “I am a Togolese but I was raised in Ghana and I even played colts soccer here. So Ghana is like my second home”.
He as well denied naturalizing for Ghana, contending, he was and is still a full blooded Togolese national “and it shall forever remain so”.
