Mozambique’s Jen became the 9th housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother All Stars house during last Sunday night’s live Big Brother All Stars Eviction Show.
The show kicked off with IK telling viewers that the game had reached its 10th week. Next, IK gave viewers some insight into what went on in the house during the week, which started off with the housemates preparing for their malaria awareness task, wining their wager, donating food to the less privileged, enjoying the arena games, plus the weekly party.
Meanwhile in the Barn, Paloma’s sister visited. Barnmates also prepared for their weekly task while Lerato and Hannington had an argument, which ended in a confrontation.
IK then crossed over to the house where Big Brother instructed housemates to make their pledges against poverty. Standing side by side Uti, Munya, Jen, Mwisho and Meryl read out the pledge to stand up and take action in order to end poverty.
After a short break, it was time to get down to business as IK asked Uti to reveal how he had used his Head of House powers to influence the game. Uti explained to housemates that it was nothing personal but that he had decided to nominate Munya for eviction.
According to Uti, he had gone ‘ini mini miny moe’ and just happened to choose Munya. A visibly tense Munya rushed upstairs to get his stuff sorted after Big Brother gave him 10 minutes to do so.
IK then introduced the talented hiphop rapper from South Africa, JR, who entertained audiences with his hit ‘Go JR’.
Another highlight of the show was the messages Big Brother played into the house on Saturday from the housemate’s families from back home.
Also on the show, viewers got to see an insert of IK interviewing Hannington after his departure from the Barn. In the insert, Hannington discussed with IK the events of Tuesday evening which led to his eviction.
Then it was back to business. The week’s viewer vote results were delivered by the Alexander Forbes representative and IK delivered the continent’s verdict, announcing Jen as the next housemate to leave the Big Brother All Stars house.
Jen stood up and hugged Uti then Kaone and then went outside to where Meryl stood and the two said a tearful goodbye, while Munya stood by, trying to come to terms that he had survived another eviction.
As Jen joined IK on stage, the always energetic host asked Big Brother to cue some music, before asking Jen to dance for the audience. His first question to Jen was: “Tell me, why do you think the other housemates nominated you?” “IK, I honestly don’t know, but yeah I just don’t know,” Jen said.
IK then went on to talk about her alliance. “When you came into the house you had your little crew you used to roll with, but in the last few weeks you had a different crew, what happened to your alliance?”
Jen responded by saying, “IK, I never had an alliance, it’s just people I knew from last year, just as much as Meryl and Sheila themselves knew other people from previous shows, so it wasn’t an alliance but I wanted to take them as far as I could.”
Apart from keeping their favourite housemate in the game, viewers also stand to win great prizes each week by simply voting. Last week’s winner of US$1 000 was Tawongo Petea from Malawi, while Tomsen Venyika from Zimbabwe, picked up a DStv HD Decoder. Last week, two Nokia handsets were up for grabs; the Nokia C3 went to Jack Thalane from South Africa, while Yankho Ewippika from Malawi won a Nokia 2690.
