THE PROFESSIONAL League Board (PLB), in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the period of registration of new players which was originally fixed to end yesterday, to Sunday March 30, 2008.
According to Welbeck Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the PLB, organizers of the on-going Onetouch Premier League, after the first round of 15 matches, the clubs were given two weeks for the second window of registration of new players which should have ended yesterday at 5.00pm as was decided earlier on.
“This decision was taken by the PLB after a joint meeting with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA),” he said.
He disclosed that apparently, the PLB’s attention was drawn to the fact that there are so many holidays starting from last week Friday which was a public holiday, as well as the following Monday which was also an Easter day.
“If we consider that clubs had a period of two weeks for the registration of new players, then the two holidays must be considered not to go against the clubs, for which reasons the PLB added two more days, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30, 2008”, he emphasized.
Mr. Abra-Appiah revealed that PLB personnel as well as the Vice-President of the FA will be at the GFA Secretariat to make sure that all Premier League clubs that intend to register their new players are properly served.
He explained that the date for the commencement of the Onetouch Premier League second round which is April 13, 2008, is still unchanged.
