The second open forum on this year’s Ghana Music Awards (GMA) was held last Friday at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The open forum was arranged by Charter House, organizers of Ghana Music Awards (GMA), to collate opinions, contributions, suggestions and ideas of stakeholders in the Ghanaian music industry.
The event which attracted a large number of participants drawn from various sectors of Ghana’s Music Industry discussed ways by which the GMA can be perfected and also ensure that their opinions on which artistes excelled were counted.
Participants, who were given the opportunity to review ways by which GMA can be improved, also took part in the nomination and categorization processes, an opportunity that was greatly appreciated by all.
New hiplife/R&B, singer, Veeda in her contribution, disagreed with some of the nominations that were made. She stressed that when two or more artistes come together to do a song, it could be on both albums.
“Basically, collaboration means when two artistes get together to write a song, the song belongs to both of them. Basically it’s the words ‘and’ and ‘featuring’ that makes the difference. After the song is done, they can both decide to put on both albums, like Jay Z and R. Kelly’s ‘Best of Both Worlds’ and Bow Wow and Omarion’s ‘Face Off ”.
