Portsmouth midfielder, Sulley Muntari, has asked coach Harry Redknapp to sign on his Ghanaian compatriot, John Mensah.
Mensah, who plays for French side Rennes, was linked with a move to the England Premiership side last week.
Mensah himself has expressed his desire in moving to English after two seasons in France.
Muntari has welcomed the reports and has asked Redknapp to splash the cash to fortify the defence of Pompey.
"They should go for him," Muntari said of his international team-mate.
Muntari has been a hit since joining the club from Italian side Udinese, at the start of the season.
