Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited yesterday launched the Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa in Accra, to showcase Ghanaians hottest dance talent to the world.
Speaking at the launch, the Marketing Manager of Malts Edwin Baffour noted that the show-down will search for the best, vibrant and skilled dancers from across the country to battle it out for the chance to compete at the Pan African Championship in Lagos, Nigeria and eventually on the world's stage in the United Kingdom.
He said on the 20th of March this year, dance crews of four to six people will be welcomed to visit local recruitment centres in which leaflet and demonstrating videos will be available to give more information on what is needed to take part.
Edwin Baffour added that the local recruitment will begin to operate in each region two weeks before each regional final and series of auditioning around the region will then see dance crews with the best dance sequence enter into the competition.
He said the Street Dance is calling all wannabe dance stars and street dancers aged between eighteen years and above to dance their way to the top of the world.
He said there will be two finals, the regional finals will take place throughout the country in Takoradi on 5th April at the Akroma Plaza, Kumasi April 19th Prempeh Assembly hall, Accra 1st of May at the La Beach, Tamale May 17th at Picorna Hotel and finally Ho at the Ho Polytechnic Auditorium on the 31st of May and the National Finals will be held on June 14th at the National Theater.
The Marketing Manager said the ultimate champions will win the honour of representing Ghana at the Pan African Championships and ultimately Africa in the International World Street Dance Championships working with top stylist and professional choreographers.
He said Malta Guinness is also supporting the competition with cash prizes and once-in-a-lifetime reward, dance classes with expert dance instructors and a days dancing at London's famous Pineapple Studious.
He explained that all winners will receive crates of Malta Guinness as well as branded souvenirs, the winners of the national competition will win a huge amount of GH¢5000 and automatically qualify for a place in the Pan Africa Championships in Lagos, Nigeria, the second placed crew will receive GH¢3000 while the third placed will receive GH¢15000 and the fourth and fifth placed crews will also get GH¢500 each.
