HEAD COACH of run-away league leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Bashiru Hayford is making a mockery of Hearts’ title aspirations, insisting that the defending champions are out of contention for the league.
Hearts are experiencing one of their worst times in the local league since the club was formed 97 years ago.
The Phobians are uncharacteristically lying 12th on the 16-league table which is being topped by their Arch Rivals Asante Kotoko.
But after putting up an impressive performance to split points with Kotoko in a 13th week encounter at the Ohene Djan Stadium recently and beating Wa All Stars 3-0, some officials of Hearts are claiming their team could overtake Kotoko and defend the title they won last year.
But reacting to Hearts’ new found hope in an interview, Coach Bash contended that so far as he was concerned the Phobians were out of contention, adding, “Kotoko are winning their 21st league title this year”.
He indicated that there was no way the Phobians could overtake his side and win this year’s league.
“Logically and mathematically it is not possible for Hearts to surpass us on the league ladder,” confident-looking Coach Bash stated, insisting, “It is even easier for the horse to go through the eye of the needle than for Hearts to overtake us in the league”.
The Kotoko Coach stated that his side would even widen the gap between them and Hearts when the second round resumes.
