THE chiefs and people of Have in the Hohoe District of the Volta Region last Monday held a durbar to climax the celebration of the Agadevi festival.
The festival was instituted to commemorate a major landslide 75 years ago on a section of the Akwapim/Togo range.
The annual festival is therefore instituted to bring the chiefs and people together, to thank God for saving the lives of people in the area.
Mr Amar Deep Singh Hari, Chief Executive Officer of Intercom Programming and Manufacturing Company, who addressed the durbar, donated 5,000 Ghana Cedis towards the construction of a town hall.
He urged the people to do everything possible to execute the 30,000 Ghana-cedi Town Hall project and also establish a computer learning centre to facilitate the development of the area.
John Peter Amewu, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, commended the people for the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the traditional area over the past years.
He touched on the December election and advised them to ensure peace before and after the election.
Togbe Asemtyra IX, the Paramount Chief of Have traditional area, appealed to the people to contribute to the building of the town hall project.
