Commodore Mensah, Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak is under fire as fellow board member and ex-interim Chief Executive Officer Harry Zakkour has criticized him for the team’s failures.
Harry Zakkour therefore called for the removal of Commodore Mensah as Board Chairman since he had failed to catapult the team to greater heights since assuming office.
Zakkour alleged that the Board Chairman together with Frank Nelson, a board member, had contributed to the club’s abysmal performance so far in the league.
He said Mensah and Nelson had connived to coerce the embattled Israeli coach, Eyal Lachman to rescind his decision though he had failed to glitter ever since he took over as coach.
“I wanted to fire Lachman who is not a coach but a physical trainer but these people prevented what I felt was good for the club,” Harry angrily stated on a sports programme on Asempa FM, a local radio station in Accra.
“I love Hearts and thus cannot sit idle while the fortunes of the club continue to dwindle,” he said, adding that Lachman is not a good trainer.
“He doesn’t listen to advice, so I wanted him to go and these two men, out of the 24 board members, seem to be taking the decisions in Hearts”.
Hearts are currently lying 10th on the 16-team league, their worst performance in over three decades.
The team’s lackluster performance compelled fans to vent their spleen on the coach and some players of the club recently.
