The Ashanti regional representative of the on-going TV3 reality show, ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’, Abena has failed to make it through to the next stage of the show.
She was last Sunday evicted after playing the role of a typical Ashanti girl who got married a day before.
In her act, she echoed to the studio B audience as well as TV viewers the significance of the items which were presented to her family by the relatives of her husband, including the dowries for her parents and siblings, and a bottle of schnapps on the day her traditional marriage rites was being performed.
However that could not guarantee her a place in the next stage of the show as she did not annex the expected public votes.
The eviction night, which was an expression of the unique traditional marriage rites of the Ghanaian woman, started with a dance from all the seven ladies representing their various regions.
After an introduction by the master of ceremony Gideon Ayequaye, the ladies one after the other went back on stage to give a wonderful performance.
Ruweida from the Northern region was the first to come up stage with a wonderful performance. She appeared as a lady who was yet to be married.
In her act, she cited the different types of traditional marriages which included marriage of the girl as a gift, mutal marriage, and marriage by chiefs from the Northern region.
She also explained the significance of the items brought to her family by relatives of her husband-to-be.
The Eastern regional contestant Efua also exhibited the role of a newly married girl who had been presented some items for the traditional rites.
Eyram from the Volta region was next with a captivating performance that won the hearts of the audience. This was evident in the comments of the three judges Efo Kwadjo Mawugbe, Linda of Catholic Fashions and the guest judge Regina Ofori.
Erica from the Brong Ahafo region also appeared on-stage to explain the significance of the items presented to her by the family of her fiancée, to whom she was earlier engaged.
This was followed by a performance from the Greater Accra region contestant Adoley who also came on-stage with the items presented to her by her husband-to-be.
Fanny from the Central region was the next to come on-stage, and she climaxed the show, winning a warm applause from the studio B audience while explaining the meaning of all items she had received by the family of the man she was getting married to.
Gideon Ayequaye called the ladies back on stage, where he presented a hamper to Eyram, the lady whose message on the occasion of Mothers’ Day was the most touching.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for as the ladies stood anxiously on stage, praying it would not be their turn to leave the house.
The MC then asked Eyram to go backstage, after which Fanny, Akua, Ruweida and Adoley followed in that order, leaving Abena and Erica.
The judges chose Erica to stay in the contest as the MC pronounced the evictee for the show as Abena.
Ghana’s Most Beautiful, a concept developed by TV3 with sponsorship from Onetouch and other companies, is to promote the culture and tradition of our society.
Initially, 10 contestants were selected from the various regions in the country, but eventually only one will be crowned the winner.
