LEGENDARY HIGHLIFE cum Jazz musician, Nana Gyedu Blay Ambolley has picked up five different awards in the United States of America, in recognition of his humanitarian efforts at giving his musical expertise to the international community, specifically the inner city youth of Los Angeles, California.
He was honoured with a ‘Life Time Achievement Music Award’ and then inducted into the ‘Jazz of Drew Music Hall of Fame’ at the Charles R. Drew University in Los Angeles.
He also received a ‘Congressional Recognition Award’ from the United States Congress.
Also, he annexed the ‘Gundernational Recognition Award’ from the Governor of California as well an award from the Board of Supervisors and City Council of the State of California.
The awards were presented to him recently at an annual Jazz festival in California dubbed, ‘Jazz @ Drew Festival’. The awards ceremony would be screened on GTV on Saturday April 12, at 8.00pm prompt.
For the past 20 years, the ‘Simigwa’ man has performed at major international Jazz music festivals worldwide.
He performed recently at the Playboy Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, the Apollo Theater, House of Blues Festival, Jazz Bakey and other festivals in Europe and Africa.
Ambolley told Beatwaves his was “a gift from Godâ€.
