The two major golf courses in Accra and Kumasi will bubble this weekend with two exiting competitions for golfers throughout the country.
In Kumasi, at the Royal Golf Course, a two-day tournament in memory of Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyemang Prempeh II will be played.
The 36-hole Stratford being sponsored by Ashfoam Kumasi will attract an expected 150 golfers from host club Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa, Takoradi, Benso among others.
It comes after the last June highly hyped 57th edition of the Asantehene Gold Cup which attracted golfers from across the country, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Cote D'Ivovie.
Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited and PHC Motors were the kind sponsors of that tournament won by George Osei from Takoradi and Ivorian Koume Vivienne.
Club secretary Kusi Appiah says expectations are high for two-day patronage.
At the nation's premier golf club, Achimota will be another profiled event, a one-day invitational tournament under the auspices of Stanbic Bank at the Achimota Golf Course on Saturday.
The last of such invitation tournaments by this sports friendly bank, attracted a huge patronage and organizers had to adopt the Tesas scrable or the 4-balls-better-ball group play format to be able to take all the entries.
Veteran Niek Small man, Nana Bema Tackie, A. Safo and S.Youns group won the exciting play won an aggregate 162 points.
Mouth watering prizes, cash, trophies and take-away await deserving winners.
¨ The Tema Country Golf Club will organise their monthly tournament at the club's course off the Tema, Aflao road on Saturday.
¨ Achimota Golf Club will hold its mid-year General Meeting at the Club House on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 5.30pm.
